Ram Das Kapoor paid to build the temple. One day his ship loaded with merchandise stuck into the Yamuna River in Vrindavan. Then the merchant was advised to pray Lord Madan Mohan. The ship was then unstuck. Also, he made huge profits. He constructed the temple with the money he earned in profit.
History of Madan Mohan Temple, Vrindavan Mathura India
This Temple was built by Kapur Ramdas of Multan, now in Pakistan. Today, a replica of the original deity, Madan Gopal is worshipped as the original idol of Madan Gopal was moved in Rajasthan for safe upkeep during Aurangzeb’s Rule.
This 60 foot high temple was opened in 1580 on a 50 foot hill called Dvadasaditya Tila, next to the Yamuna. This famous and most ancient temple of Vrindavan was built by Srila Sanatan Goswamiand became first Goswami Temple constructed in Vrindavan. The area at the time of building the temple was full of forests. It is believed that the original deity was found under a Banyan Tree by Advaita Acharya. But he could not worship the deity and entrusted its responsibility to his disciple Purusottama Chaube who transferred the deity to Sanatan Goswami. The worship is still continued.
