Madan Mohan Temple Vrindavan Uttar Pradesh India

It is one of the oldest temples of Vrindavan. It is closely associated with great Bhakti Saint Chaitanya Maha prabhu who was a devotee of Lord Krishna. The temple is located along River Yamuna and is first of Goswami Temples built in Vrindavan. It is also one of the most ancient temples of Vrindavan.

   How to Reach Madan Mohan Temple, Vrindavan Mathura India

By Train: Anyone visiting the town for the first time can reach Mathura Railway Station. Thereby taxis and autos can be hired for Vrindavan. Auto or taxi drivers can take you to the place by charging 15-25 INR from Mathura Railway Station.

By Air: People can reach Agra Airport from other cities of India. You can hire auto or taxi for Mathura or Vrindavan.

By Road: People can take state transport buses of UPSRTC operating for Mathura Bus Depot from different cities like Varanasi , Delhi, Lucknow and other tourist cities of India.

Ram Das Kapoor paid to build the temple. One day his ship loaded with merchandise stuck into the Yamuna River in Vrindavan. Then the merchant was advised to pray Lord Madan Mohan. The ship was then unstuck. Also, he made huge profits. He constructed the temple with the money he earned in profit.

  History of Madan Mohan Temple, Vrindavan Mathura India

This Temple was built by Kapur Ramdas of Multan, now in Pakistan. Today, a replica of the original deity, Madan Gopal is worshipped as the original idol of Madan Gopal was moved in Rajasthan for safe upkeep during Aurangzeb’s Rule.

This 60 foot high temple was opened in 1580 on a 50 foot hill called Dvadasaditya Tila, next to the Yamuna. This famous and most ancient temple of Vrindavan was built by Srila Sanatan Goswamiand became first Goswami Temple constructed in Vrindavan. The area at the time of building the temple was full of forests. It is believed that the original deity was found under a Banyan Tree by Advaita Acharya. But he could not worship the deity and entrusted its responsibility to his disciple Purusottama Chaube who transferred the deity to Sanatan Goswami. The worship is still continued.
