Banke-Bihari Temple Vrindavan Uttar Pradesh India

This temple was built when an idol of Banke-Bihari i.e. Lord Sri krishna was discovered in Nidhi Vana of Vrindavan. It is believed that Banke Bihari first appeared before Swami Haridas on his devotion and pious love for Lord and Music. It is believed that Lord Krishna was himself a great musician. H used to play flute and perform dances in Nidhivan. This temple is believed to be established by Swami Haridas in Mughal Period. It is believed that this temple has the same posture of Lord Krishna that came in dreams of Swami Haridas.

 How to reach Banke Bihari Temple Vrindavan Mathura India

By Train: Anyone visiting the town for the first time can reach Mathura Railway Station. Thereby taxis and autos can be hired for Vrindavan. Auto or taxi drivers can take you to the place by charging 15-25 INR from Mathura Railway Station.

By Air: People can reach Agra Airport from other cities of India. You can hire auto or taxi for Mathura or Vrindavan.

By Road: People can take state transport buses of UPSRTC operating for Mathura Bus Depot from different cities like Varanasi, Delhi, Lucknow and other tourist cities of India.

Banke Bihari Temple is visited by tourists and pilgrims during day and entry to temple is prohibited after 8 PM due to local beliefs. It is staunchly believed that who dares to enter this place after 8Pm is found to be dead or insane.

The temple has Mangala-Aartionly one day a year and only once a year can the lotus feet of the Deity be seen, on AkshyayaTritiya.

  • At every night Shringar items are kept for Lord Krishna and performance of Raslila.
  • Aarti is performed on daily basis before 8 AM and 8PM.
  • Janmashtami is a festival celebrated with enthusiasm and great joy. Janmashtami comes on every 8thof New Moon fortnight. This festival is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna in Mathura. Though Janmashtami is a festival celebrated by every Hindu family all over India, it is something of a kind in Mathura and Vrindavan as Lord Krishna was born at the very place.
