  Mathura – Birthplace of Lord Krishna, India

Mathura is located at a distance of 58 km from Agra. Mathura the birthplace of Lord Krishna and famous for its culture and heritage and as one of the major pilgrimage centers for the Hindus, is situated within the Golden Triangle of Delhi-Jaipur-Agra. Mathura is in Uttar Pradesh. Very much connected with the Hindu epic Mahabharata, Krishna is said to have spent his childhood and adolescence in Braj. According to the Garuda Purana, Mathura along with Ayodhya, Avantika, Kasi, Puri, Kanchi and Dwarka are the seven sites which grant moksha.

Though the city is Mathura is mainly associated with the life of Lord Krishna, it is also sacred to Jains and Buddhists. The Ghats and the tranquil banks of river Yamuna give Mathura a serene feel.
