Pushkar Tourist Places, India

Pushkar City has many places, monuments, fairs, festivals besides its world famous Pushkar lake and Pushkar Fair. The City has ancient Brahma Temple, Hanuman Temple and Krishna Temple among prominent temples besides several other religious monuments and temples. Ghats along Pushkar Lake gives it a picturesque look and Aravalli Hills aids to its natural beauty. There are 52 ghats constructed along Pushkar Lake.

Pushkar Lake : The prime attraction of Pushkar is the Pushkar Lake which is considered sacred like the Mansarovar Lake in Tibet. Pushkar has become a place of Hindu pilgrimage because of this holy lake. Devotees take a pious dip in the spiritual water of the lake which is said to have miraculous powers. Pushkar Lake is an artificial lake and has attracted thousands of tourists every year from across the world.

Brahma Temple : The most important temple in Pushkar is the Temple of Lord Brahma, one of the holy trinity of Hinduism. In fact it is the only Hindu shrine in the world where Lord Brahma is worshipped. Brahma Temple came into existence in 14th century in its present form but there has always been existence of smaller temples at the same place.

Savitri Temple : This temple is located at the top of the Ratnagiri Hills dedicated to Savitri, the wife of Lord Brahma. The temple has a splendid statue of Goddess Savitri.

Other Temples : Other noteworthy temples of the pilgrim place are the 19th century Mahadeva Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Rangaji Temple that is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and the Varaha Temple that is also dedicated to a deity who is one of the incarnations of Vishnu. All these temples are an outstanding example of architecture and sculpture.

Ghats of Pushkar : Pushkar City has 52 Ghats along Pushkar Lake. Some are of latest constructions while some Ghats are from ancient times. Some important ghats are; Raj Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, KotGhat, DadhichiGhat, SaptrishiGhat, Jaipur Ghat etc.

Other Attractions Pushkar Bazaar : The colourful and vibrant Pushkar Bazaar is a shopper's delight. One can buy abundant souvenirs like silver jewellery, embroidered shoes, wall hangings, shoulder bags, embroidered fabrics, decorative items and so on.Chhintz, tie and die and Jaipuri Prints are world famous fabric of Rajasthan.

Pushkar Fair : Pushkar Fair is the largest cattle fair in Asia and is held in the month of November during the KartikPurnima(full moon day in the Hindu lunar month of Kartik). Pushkar fair attract thousands of men and animals both and give a vivid look to the landscape of city in cold months of November by colourful and vibrant activities that take place along Pushkar Lake.
