Sarnath, the holy place of Lord Buddha, is opening for tourists after six months. The memorial premises will be opened from September 7 in a phased manner after getting permission from the district administration. No mask shall be allowed to enter the premises. Sarnath's tourist place will be buzzed again from Monday.
It will begin on September 7 from the excavated site of Sarnath. Later, in turn the Chaukhandi Stupa, Lal Khan's Tomb, Rajghat and Man Singh's observatory and museum will be opened for tourists. The time has been fixed for the entry of tourists to the excavated site. Tourists will be given entry from 10 am to 5 pm. Tourists will be given entry by e-ticket only.
Masks are necessary to enter Sarnath tourist destinations. No tourists are allowed to enter the memorial complex without a mask. The entire campus will be well sanitized. Staff and tourists will strictly follow the physical distance instructions. There will be a system of hand sanitizing and thermal scanning at the entrance of the memorial.
Museum will remain closed
Sarnath Museum is not being opened for tourists at present due to disrupted power supply. It is worth noting that for the last several days, excessive voltage is being supplied in the transformers of the Electricity Department in the museum premises, which has burnt many equipment of the museum. Officials of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited have also been informed by letter in this regard, but the museum will have to be closed due to the problem being not resolved yet.
