BALLIA: Governor Anandiben Patel along with Bihar deputy CM Sushil Modi flagged off Ganga Yatra from Dubey Chhapra area on UP-Bihar border in Ballia district on Monday. Governor after performing Ganga-pujan and aarti on the river bank flagged off the Ganga Yatra, which will move by road up to Kanpur. A symbolic Ganga Yatra by boat was also taken out in the limits of district.
In her address governor motivated people especially women and youths to take part in Ganga Yatra, which is being carried out to give message for saving river from pollution and environment, whole heartedly as the government is aiming at generating livelihood opportunities with an ambitious campaign Arth-Ganga.
She said that the campaign of UP government will change the fate of 1038 villages on the Ganga bank as apart from promoting organic farming, focus on horticulture and forestation is also being given on improving education, health and sports facilities.
Appealing to play role in keeping rivers free from pollution, survival of trees following their plantation and also in sanitation works she said that it will give benefits like clean air for breathing, sufficient availabity of potable water and healthy living to them only.
