The Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India , launched its daily direct flight operations between Bhubaneswar and Varanasi on Friday. The airline has deployed its 70-seater ATR 72 600 aircraft. The Air India station manager at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport Atif Idrish said that on the first day as many as 36 passengers arrived in the city from Bhubaneswar, while 32 passengers from Varanasi flew to Bhubaneswar.
The flight (9I 747) departing from Bhubaneswar at 12:15pm arrived in Varanasi at 2:05pm, while the flight (9I 748) from Varanasi took off at 2:30pm. Idrish said that the flight services between Varanasi and Bhubaneswar have been started as a regional connectivity scheme (RCS) route under the UDAN.
This flight would cater to the need of swift connectivity for tourists, students, business community and traders. The option of daily direct flights between the two destinations would reduce the travel time making it convenient for passengers.
